A high-speed motorcyclist failed to pull over Sunday night after deputies with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop.
Deputies checked a red motorcycle traveling “at an extremely high speed” just prior to midnight Sunday on Ga. 365 near Anderson Village, officials report. The motorcyclist failed to stop once deputies requested he pull over, and fled north, passing through the intersection at Demorest Mt. Airy Highway.
The motorcycle eventually collided with a marked sheriff’s office patrol vehicle that was traveling north on Ga. 365 near Ga. 197 and Mt. Airy. The collision was not the result of a PIT maneuver, officials said Tuesday.
The motorcyclist was injured but declined ambulance transport from the scene. He was later identified as Bradley Jamal Street, 28, of Morrow. He was allegedly charged with driving under the influence, two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, speeding, expired or no driver’s license, reckless driving, no proof of insurance, registration and license requirements, following too closely and failure to maintain lane.
Street at one point was traveling 101 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to Habersham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Rob Moore.
Georgia State Patrol Post 7 investigated the wreck, and the sheriff’s office vehicle sustained a flat tire and cosmetic damage on the driver’s side as a result of the collision.
