15,000-square-foot Lawrenceville home destroyed by fire

A 15,000-square-foot home in Lawrenceville was destroyed by a fire Friday morning.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services officials said crews were called to the scene on Lebanon Road NW just north of Duluth Highway just before 8:00 a.m. to a report of a fire in an open field. Shortly after, another caller said the house was also on fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found fire in the basement of the home spreading up through the upper two stories. Crews began fighting the blaze, but had to use over a thousand feet of hose line to reach the structure because of how far off the road it was.

No one was inside at the time and the fire took over an hour and a half to completely put out. A helicopter was also used to drop water on the blaze and water had to be pulled from a lake behind the home.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire. In total, 14 emergency vehicles responded to the scene.

The fire was put out around 9:45 a.m. No one was injured during the incident.
