Driver arrested after crashing into Primrose School

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Gainesville man was arrested on DUI charges after police say he crashed into the Primrose School early Saturday morning.

Gainesville Police Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook said the accident happened at around 2:30 a.m.

"Police learned that a 1998 Ford Explorer, driven by Jeremiah Mitchell, age 38 of Gainesville, had turned off of Thompson Bridge Road when he failed to stop in time," Holbrook said. "Unfortunately, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a flagpole and ended up inside of the building."

Holbrook said Mitchell was not injured and was arrested at the scene. He said no one else was in the vehicle with Mitchell and the building was empty at the time of the crash.

"Fortunately, they were closed at the time. It was very lucky, because this very well could have been different circumstances," Holbrook said.
