ATLANTA — Atlanta Braves pitcher Max Fried has been played on the 15-day injured list due to a strained left forearm, the club announced on Tuesday.
The IL placement is retroactive to May 6.
The Braves called up left-hander Danny Young from Triple-A Gwinnett to fill his spot.
It's Fried, who left his Opening Day start due to a hamstring strain, will sit out for the second time this season on the IL. Still, though, there has been no indication as to when Fried would return to the line-up or the extent of the injury that took him out of last week's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Fried gave up seven runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings of work.
Fried, 29, averaged 94.8 mph on his fastball through his first three starts but his velocity has declined to an average of 93.5 mph over his last two starts.
Jared Schuster has been rumored to be his replacement in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.
