SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Lakeview Academy girls took No. 1 seed St. Andrews down to the wire but eventually fell 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the GIAA Class 3A playoffs on Saturday.
The Lady Lions (5-12) took the intial lead just 10 minutes in when Annie Nivens placed a thru ball that Sadie Leek picked up to beat the St. Andrews keeper for a 1-0 lead. But St Andrews picked it up from there.
St. Andrews got a PK tie the match scored twice more before the end of the half to go up 3-1.
Lakeview turned up the head in the second half, outshooting St. Andrews 6-3 but could not find the back of the net.
Lakeview keeper Amelia Corbin had 11 saves for the game.
