Gainesville to re-launch summer trolleys

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The city of Gainesville announced Friday that it will soon be re-launching its summer trolleys.

The trolleys will return to the streets on May 18, according to a release on the city's website. The service is a joint effort between Gainesville and Hall Area Transit.

The service was first introduced in summer of 2022 and Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center Director Phillippa Lewis Moss said it was a big success.

“HAT is thrilled to share the Gainesville Trolleys transported nearly 10,000 passengers during its inaugural season," Moss said. “We are looking forward to relaunching this successful offering and connecting even more people to the City’s thriving and vibrant downtown, which has even more restaurant and retail offerings than it did this time last year."

Officials have begun preparation for the service by placing trolley stop signage at a number of locations around the city including the Chattahoochee Golf Club and the Dixon, Glenwood and Riverside neighborhoods.

The city said more information on the service will be released as the launch date approaches.
