Gainesville City Council approve office building on Green Street Circle

By Sydney Hencil Anchor/Reporter
The Gainesville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday evening to approve a rezoning of the construction of an office building at the intersection of Green Street Circle and Thompson Bridge Road.

The 0.48-acre plot is located at 1113 and 1117 Green Street Circle. The request to rezone the area from Residential to Office and Institutional was made by Bradley Dunckel on behalf of property owner James E. Bates, Jr. A new 2,000-square-foot, one-story medical or dental office, with 10 parking spaces is planned to be built at the location.

Five Green Street residents spoke in opposition of the rezoning, citing concerns about noise, increased traffic and disruption of sewer lines. That came after the residents also spoke in opposition at the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board on April 11.

Three conditions were added to the rezoning. There will be no dumpster on site, the property will be required to have a minimum of an eight-foot-tall buffer between the homes and office building and business hours will be limited between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
