Gwinnett crews battle Lawrenceville house fire

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

No one was injured in a fire that heavily damaged a home in Lawrenceville Friday afternoon.

In a social media post, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services officials said they were called to the scene on Firecrest Lane off of Johnson Road just after 5:00 p.m. and found the entire one-story house in flames.

Officials said the residents of the home were alerted by smoke alarms and were able to escape without injury. The fire was brought under control about 15 minutes after fire crews arrived.

Fire investigators said they determined the blaze started in the area of a covered porch, but the cause is still unknown. Six adults and one child were displaced by the damage and the American Red Cross is assisting them.
