Gwinnett County Police collect 456 lbs of prescription drugs on drug take back day

The Gwinnett County Police Department collected over 456 lbs of prescription drugs during the Spring 2023 National Drug Take Back Day.

According to a press release from the agency, the initiative was held on April 22 in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Residents of Gwinnett County were asked to drop off unused or expired prescriptions in an effort to combat increased overdose deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

"Thank you to our community for participating in combating the opioid crisis by safely disposing of medication," the press release reads.
