By Access WDUN Staff

State unemployment numbers have maintained a moderate rate of 3 percent throughout most regions, while a slight increase has been detected in parts of North Georgia in March.

The monthly press release from the Georgia Department of Labor shows unemployment rates for March were relatively unchanged from the prior month.

Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson's office indicates that within the Georgia Mountains Region, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Towns, Union, and White counties that the unemployment rate was up one-tenth to 2.9 percent over the month, the rate was 2.6 percent one year ago.

For the Metro Atlanta Region, which includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.2 percent over the month. The rate was 2.9 percent one year ago.
