Oakwood man facing new child pornography charges after previous arrest

By Austin Eller News Director

An Oakwood man who was previously arrested on April 11 by the Hall County Sheriff's Office on child pornography charges now faces additional charges in the case.

According to a press release from the sheriff's office, Austin Michael Pope, 21, was charged Monday with four additional counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Pope faces six total charges following the addition of the four new counts.

Pope was served at the Hall County Jail, where he has been held since his arrest on April 11.

The latest warrants are the result of a new cybertip the sheriff's office and Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Monday.

Pope allegedly possessed and distributed two videos on Dec. 11, 2022, of children being sexually abused by adults through his Snapchat account.

Pope remains in jail without bond as of Tuesday morning. The case remains under investigation.
