MONROE, Ga. — Flowery Branch's Sadie Bishop has qualified for the Class 5A state girls golf tournament.
On Monday, the freshman Lady Falcon golfer shot a 92 to place 10th out of 53 golfers in the Area 4-5A tournament at Monroe Golf and Country Club.
The Lady Falcons finished fifth overall.
Branch coach Kim Satterfield said she was very pleased with Bishop's performance.
"Yes, I am very proud of her," she said. "She has really started to develop her game in the last couple of weeks. She shot a low 82 at the Vahalla Cup that East Hall put on earlier this month. She is going to be special as she continues to develop. I’m very proud of her today. She had some rough holes but battled back."
Bishop battled back after back-to-back double bogeys on the back nine to finish the final two holes with bogeys to seal up the top-1o finish.
Meanwhile, the Jefferson girls rallied to a second-place finish behind area champion Northview. Next month, the Lady Dragons will represent the area in the Class 5A tournament at Fields Ferry Country Club in Calhoun.
Anna Kate Patton led the Lady Dragons with an 83, good enough for third overall. Addison Taylor shot a 94, while Toribeth Condon turned in a 96.
Northview's Hannah Jung captured the individual crown with an 81.
