LifeSouth, a Florida-based non-profit blood bank, is offering to sponsor planting trees in exchange for blood donations made at its facilities over the next week to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day.

Three of the facilities that will be accepting the donations are in Northeast Georgia in Gainesville, Cumming and Lawrenceville. The program will run from today through Friday, April 28.

LifeSouth plans to sponsor the tree plantings through the National Forest Foundation's Sapling Program. The addresses of the donation centers are listed below:

  • Gainesville: 1200 McEver Road
  • Cumming: 1550 Market Place Boulevard
  • Lawrenceville: 1030 Old Peachtree Road NW Unit 202

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. More information on qualifications to donate and how to make an appointment can be found on LifeSouth's website.

Those who donate will also receive an e-gift card.
