Forsyth County drivers should watch for brief lane closures and delays throughout the area during the week of April 23 as the county continues work on the Lake Lanier Return Flow System project.

According to a press release from Forsyth County Government, crews will be conducting fieldwork at 22 locations along the project route from April 23 through April 29. The work at each location will take about 2 hours, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.

Commuters can expect brief, intermittent lane closures and delays at the following locations:

  • Ga 400 southbound shoulder near exit 13
  • Ga 400 northbound shoulder and northbound on-ramp at exit 13
  • Shiloh Road at Mars Hill intersection
  • Access Road
  • Pendley Road
  • Ronald Reagan Boulevard at Bill Cantrell and Quarry Entrance intersections
  • Buford Highway at Sanders Road intersection
  • Sanders Road
  • Buford Dam Road at Sanders Road intersection

"Crews will be performing soil boring, also called geotechnical boring, which is a technique used to investigate and determine soil composition and conditions at a site where construction is planned," the press release said.

Once completed, the Return Flow System will convey highly treated water from the Fowler Water Reclamation Facility to Lake Lanier.
