East Hall and Johnson in Class 4A and Union County in Class 2A will try and join Flowery Branch into the quarterfinals when the trio of Northeast Georgia-area teams kickoff on Thursday in the second round of the Georgia High School Association playoffs.
On Tuesday, Flowery Branch became the first of 15 area boys teams that began the playoffs to advance to the quarterfinals taking a nail-biting 2-1 victory over Cambridge.
Only three more are left after West Hall fell to Coahulla Creek in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Johnson (17-0) is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A and will play host to Holy Innocents' at The Dungeon looking for its fifth straight Elite 8 appearance. Meanwhile, fourth-ranked East Hall (13-3) takes on 10th-ranked Clarkston (12-5-1) hoping to makes its third straight quarterfinal appearance.
Union County (10-3) will travel to take on No. 3 Walker (12-4) looking for its second straight road win in the playoffs.
