CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — Henry Kopydlowski shot a tournament-best 67 to lead the Gainesville boys golf team to the Area 4-6A championship on Tuesday at Apple Mountain Golf Course.
The Red Elephants bested Johns Creek by three strokes to win the title. North Forsyth finished fifth, Habersham Central was eighth, and Jackson County was ninth.
Kopydlowski, who beat Habersham Centrals Jack Rowe by one stroke, turned in a front nine 34 and a 33 on the back to post the 5-under score en route to the individual championship.
Collin Henderson (72), Shay Mangalat (73) and Brigham Ralston (79) combined for an overall 291 team score.
Henderson finished sixth overall and Mangalat seventh overall. North Forsyth's Cole Isabel and Alex Miggas tied for 14th.
The Red Elephants will play for the Class 6A state championship on May 22-23 at Jekyll Island Golf Course.
