A fire engulfed the garage section of a single-family home on Watchman’s Cove in Gainesville Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1 p.m., Hall County Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire on the 5000 block of Watchman’s Cove. Once on the scene, crews found heavy flames and smoke coming from the garage of the home.

Firefighters fought the blaze from inside the home and were able to get the situation under control within 10 minutes, according to a release from the department.

The fire had risen to the attic space above the garage and crews were able to extinguish the flames and prevent any further spread. One resident was reported to have been home at the time the fire started and was able to escape without injury.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
