Grissom to get his chance to shine for the Braves; replaces injured Arcia

By AccessWDUN Staff

ATLANTA — With the loss of shortstop Orlando Arcia, the Atlanta Braves have called up Vaughn Grissom, according to MLB.com.

On Wednesday, the Braves announced Arica had suffered a micro-fracture of his left wrist and was played on the 10-day injured list. Grissom is expected to start in the three-game series in Kansas City, beginning Friday night.

Arcia's injury happened in Wednesday night's 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds when he was hit by Hunter Greene's 98 mph fastball. The X-rays after the game were negative, but an MRI and CT scan showed otherwise on Thursday.

Grissom, who was tapped to be Dansby Swanson's replacement at shortstop, didn't develop as fast as the Braves thought he would, sending him down to Triple-A Gwinnett.

However, Grissom has improved himself in 48 plate appearances in Gwinnett. He's hitting .366 with a 1.044 OPS.
