The local board voted Tuesday afternoon after an executive session to let Renshaw go. Renshaw has lost the confidence of both the board of commissioners and the community, according to White County Commission Chairman Travis Turner. Most felt he would be unable to serve the county for his apparent desire to be elsewhere.
Renshaw was hired by White County for his current position in May 2022. He was the third manager picked to serve in that role in less than two years.
“To describe the entire chain of events, it would be disappointed," Turner said. “Disappointed because I had high hopes that with Mike’s job knowledge, he would be able to be a part of our team for years to come. A team guided by policies given by the board of commissioners, unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be ... I hope Mike can find a community that better fits his desires than our growing Appalachian community apparently could not.“
Turner and the board will be working closely with county clerk Shanda Murphy to continue to provide great service to our citizens as well as move forward on several projects that have started.
