Rome, Toccoa, USLMS returns to action this weekend

After wet weather wreaked havoc on Easter weekend racing plans, several tracks and series go into this weekend hoping for clear skies and fast times on raceways around the region.

Here’s a look at some of the action on tap for race fans over the next few days:

-After being dormant for the 2022 season, Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia comes back to life on Saturday, as the famed half-mile dirt track hosts the CRUSA Late Models, along with action in the 602, Econo Bomber, Open Wheel and Stinger divisions. For more information, visit DixieSpeedway.com.

-After last weekend’s season opener was rained out at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia, the historic 5/16-mile clay raceway will try again on Saturday with local division racing. Visit ToccoaRaceway.org for more information.

-The Ultimate Super Late Model Series looks to get their 2023 season opened with a trip to Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Indiana on Saturday. For more information, visit UltimateSupers.com.

-The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series returns to the Peach State for back-to-back nights at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, Georgia on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit SASDirt.com.

-The SMART Modified Tour travels to the historic Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, North Carolina on Saturday night. Check SMARTModTour.com for more information.

-The Southern Super Series travels to Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, Alabama for the annual Rumble By The River at the half-mile paved raceway. Check SouthernSuperSeries.com for more information.

NASCAR returns to the Commonwealth and the historic Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes to the tight half-mile on Friday night, while the NASCAR Xfinity Series competes there on Saturday night.
