Hall County officials announced Friday the construction of the Friendship Road sewer line project will begin April 21 at 10 am.

“I’m excited to break ground on a project that is an integral piece of Hall County’s strategic plan, comprehensive plan, and sewer master plan,” Hall County District 1 Commissioner Kathy Cooper said in a release. “This sewer line will be able to serve thousands of residents along Friendship Road, resulting in better services for existing residents and continues growth in the area.”

The additional 5.2 miles of sewer lines will incorporate 3.2 miles of gravity lines and two-miles of force main lines and will run along the Friendship Road corridor and serve the Mitchell Creek Basin area along both Hall and Gwinnett County lines, according to officials.

“This is an exciting moment for the Public Works Department,” Public Works Director Bill Nash said.  “We have to be intentional in planning these types of development projects and we’re proud of the time, effort and planning that’s gotten it to this point. We’re even more excited for what’s to come and the service it will provide the citizens of South Hall.”

The project is expected to be complete in early fall 2024; however that date could change depending on weather conditions and delays, officials said.

The project will cost around $13.9 million and will be funded by SLOST VIII and ARPA.
