Hall County Sheriff's Office officials are warning the public of rental scams in the area.
In a social media post Tuesday, authorities said scammers have been using pictures and information about properties to create false rent or lease listings online. Those who call the number listed are asked for a deposit over the phone and if the deposit is made, the listers disappear.
Authorities said those looking to rent or lease should never provide any payment until they have met in-person with someone authorized to lease the property.
The Sheriff's Office said the scams can apply to houses, apartments, townhomes, condominiums or any other residence.
