By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Authorities in Towns County made two drug arrests in a four-day period last week.

On Wednesday, March 29, the Towns County Sheriff's Office and Hiawassee Police Department set up a joint drug buy bust operation at the Hiawassee Budget Inn on South Main Street. During the operation, authorities reportedly seized methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl.

Cash and counterfeit fentanyl were also found at the scene. Kaitlyn Brianna Kincaid, age 27 of Marble, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with possession of all three substances.

That Saturday, a Towns County Sheriff's Deputy made a traffic stop Georgia 339 in front of the county jail when the deputy said something was thrown out of the vehicle's window. A search of the vehicle then reportedly yielded cocaine.

The driver, Evan Dean Vilardo, age 35 of Franklin, North Carolina, was arrested at the scene and faces several charges including possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Both suspects are being held in the Towns County Jail.
