Golf: Gainesville boys, North Hall girls lead Hall Co. Championships after Day 1

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — North Hall's MaKayla Jones and Lakeview Academy's Tanner Stephens lead the field after Day 1 of the Hall County Championships at Chattahoochee Golf Course. 

Jones shot a 41 to grab the early lead. Cherokee Bluff's Allisa Pressely is only two strokes off the lead, turning in a 43. 

The Lady Trojans lead the team standings by four strokes over Cherokee Bluff. Flowery Branch is third, 32 strokes behind North Hall, and 28 out of second place. 

In the boys action, tournament favorite and defending champion Gainesville leads Lakeview Academy, also a favorite, by just two strokes, 151-153, after Day 1. 

Cherokee Bluff is in third, seven strokes off the lead, while North Hall turned in a 163 to take fourth. 

Lakeview's Tanner Stephens is on top of the individual standings after turning in a one-under-35. He's two strokes ahead of Gainesville's Collin Henderson and Brigham Ralston, and teammate Chandler Lovell. All three shot a one-over 37 to take second. Henry Kopydlowski turned in a Day 1 38, good enough for third place. Gainesville's Nick Greene turned in a 39 to make the top five. 

The final round is set for Wednesday at Chattahoochee. Tee time is set for 3:30 p.m.
