Tennis: Buford, Branch get sweeps in region play

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Buford tennis teams swept Collins Hill on Monday in a pair of Region 8-7A matches at Richland Country Club. 

The Buford boys won 5-0 and improved to 7-4 on the season and 1-0 in region play. James Troutt, Myles Carbis, Brent Sherman all took straight-set wins in singles.The doubles teams of Miller Troutt and Eshaan Patel and Luke Clark and Owen Sampers also won in straight sets.

The Lady Wolves took a 4-1 win and are 6-5 on the season and 1-0 region play. Taylor Aycock and Delaney Richards both won by forfeit while the double steams of Berkley Clark and Abigail Foretic and Anna Cate Smith and Ella Place both took 6-0, 6-0 wins.

Both Buford teams play Central Gwinnett on Tuesday at Buford City Park in a pair of 8-7A matches.


FLOWERY BRANCH SWEEPS JEFFERSON IN 8-5A

The boys took a 4-1 win powered by a sweep in the doubles. The Lady Falcons survived with a 3-2 win.

For the boys, in doubles, Ty Weatherley and Josh Warren won at No. 1 and Reid Barnes and Eli King won at No. 2 for the Falcons.

In singles, Brayden Jackson beat Jacob Meisssner and Logan Magnuson beat Ty Collinsworth for Flowery Branch at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots. Jefferson's Ethan Duke beat the Falcons' Logan Huntsman at No. 3 singles. 

For the girls, Sandra Herandez at No. 1 and Avery Mark at No. 3 got wins for Flowery Branch. Katie Martin got a win at No. 2 singles for Jefferson.

In doubles, Branch got a win at No. 1 from Casey Skaggs and Violet Shultz. The Lady Dragons got a win at No. 2 doubles from Alexis Waker and Piper Smith.
