Davie Franek and Corbin Gurley both took home winner’s hardware from the weekend’s USCS Sprint Car Series races at Mississippi’s Hattiesburg Speedway.
Franek topped the field at the ¼-mile dirt raceway on Friday night, while Gurley took top honors in Saturday night’s action.
On Friday, series points leader Davie Franek charged from the outside of the front row to the lead in the 25-lap feature. The Wantage, New Jersey driver held off charges from Mark Smith through five caution flags to take the win.
Smith followed in second, with Dale Howard in third, Terry Gray in fourth, and Matt Covington in fifth.
Howard, Franek, Danny Smith, and Kaylee Bryson won their respective heat races, with Gray winning the speed dash.
On Saturday, Corbin Gurley charged from a 10th place starting spot to record his first career series win.
The Hebron, Indiana speedster held off Brandon Anderson for the win, with Mark Smith in third, Gavan Boschele in fourth, and Jan Howard in fifth.
Kaylee Bryson, Davie Franek, Boschele, and Jan Howard won their heat races, with Howard also winning the speed dash.
The USCS Sprint Car Series returns to action on Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11, at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. For more information, visit USCSRacing.com.
