No one injured following Buford house fire

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a house fire call in Buford Friday night that left a carport and portions of the home damaged.

At approximately 5:49 p.m. firefighters with Gwinnett County received a call to the 2000 block of Appling Circle NE in Buford. The caller was a minor living in a home behind the residence that was on fire. During the call, reports from the operator indicated they could hear explosions and popping sounds in the background.

Crews arrived at 5:54 p.m. and found a fire in the carport of the single-story home. They deployed hoses and hooked to a water source located across the street from the burning residence. Upon searching the interior of the home, it was confirmed that everyone had escaped. The fire was brought under control by 6:09 p.m.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The owner of the home arrived on the scene soon after and confirmed the house was vacant at the time of the fire. He stated the home is an ongoing project and has been vacant for several weeks.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
