Region 8-7A will open its region schedule on Friday as soccer teams will have some crucial region matchups around the area.
Buford travels to Mountain View for both teams 8-7A openers. The Lady Wolves are ranked No. 1 in 7A while the Mountain View boys are ranked fifth.
Regions 8-6A, 8-5A and 8-4A will continue have some key matches. In Region 8-4A, the Class 4A No. 1 Johnson boys will play host to Madison County while the Lady Knights will look to stay among the unbeatens at the top of the standings. The No. 5 East Hall boys will try to rebound from its first region loss against Seckinger at Valhalla. Chestatee and Cedar Shoals will try to stay among the leaders will a showdown in Athens.
In Region 8-6A, Habersham Central will play host Jackson County in a pair of huge matches. In Region 8-5A, The 10th-ranked and unbeaten Flowery Branch girls will travel to Jefferson.
In Copa 985 action, Gainesville will play host to Cherokee Bluff.
