Gas prices stayed steady over the past week, with the national average staying the same while Georgia's average prices saw a slight decline.
In the latest report from AAA Monday morning, the average price for a gallon of regular in Georgia is now $3.21, down four cents from this time last week. It marks three straight weeks of declining prices at the pump in the state, although the most recent week's change has been the smallest.
The national average remained $3.41.
“Low demand and a dip in crude oil prices continue to keep gas prices down,” AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters said. “If demand and crude oil costs start to rise again, most likely pump prices will follow suit down the road.”
Northeast Georgia continues to see some of the cheapest prices in the state. The average price per gallon in Hall County is now $3.08, which is down five cents from the week before. The cheapest prices in the region are in Dawson County at $3.06 per gallon.
The cheapest prices in Georgia as of Monday morning are in Jeff Davis County in southeast Georgia at $3.02 per gallon on average. The most expensive are, for the second week in a row, in Emmanuel County, also in South Georgia, at $3.52 on average.
