Hall County Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire on Forrester Road Sunday where two different structures were burning resulting in one fatality.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday rescue crews were dispatched to the 8800 block of Forrester Road in Lula after reports came in of a residential fire. Upon arrival, responders found a working fire in a single-story residence. They attacked the fire from the inside of the home and extinguished it quickly. No one was present inside the home at the time of the fire.

During the response to the initial residential fire, rescue crews were dispatched to a second fire on the same property, approximately one mile behind the home. According to a release, responders found a barn with an attached studio apartment fully involved with flames. Crews combatted the fire from outside the structure.

Officials said searches of the attached apartment found one deceased victim. The barn was declared a total loss and the residence was partially damaged.

Two tenders from White County and one tender from Habersham County were utilized due to the lack of hydrants in the area. The cause of the fires is currently under investigation by both the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Marshal’s Office.
