Region play around Northeast Georgia begins to heat up with several crucial matches on tap for both the boys and girls on Friday.
One of the biggest matchups of the night will have the Class 5A No. 3-ranked Clarke Central boys (6-1) traveling to Flowery Branch in both teams' Region 8-5A opener. Class 6A No. 4 Gainesville (4-1, 1-0 Region 8-6A) traveling to North Forsyth (2-3, 1-0 Region 8-6A) in an early showdown for first place on the boys side.
The Class 4A fifth-ranked East Hall boys (3-0, 0-0 Region 8-4A) will play host to Madison County (1-2, 0-2 Region 8-4A) in the Vikings' region opener at East Hall Stadium.
