Several more Northeast Georgia-area teams will open their 2023 baseball seasons this weekend.
The highlight will have Jefferson playing host to Apalachee on Friday. Both teams made the playoffs in 2022 with the Wildcats, now in Class 6A, making the Class 5A semifinals.
East Hall and East Jackson will play the backend of a home-and-home series in Rabbittown on Friday. The Eagles won the first matchup on Tuesday, 8-6, in Commerce.
Chestatee and West Hall will open their seasons on Friday at the Lynn Cottrell Complex
Union County and White County also will play the backend of a home-and-home series in Cleveland on Saturday. The Warriors beat the Panthers 11-1 on Wednesday in Blairsville.
