UPDATE:

The Gwinnett Police Department reportedly arrested Miles Bryant, 22, Monday in connection to Susana Morales' death. Bryant is from Norcross. According to a release, he is being charged with Concealing the Death of Another and False Report of a Crime. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett Detention Center without bond.

Officials report that Bryant is an officer with the Doraville Police Department. Sergeant Jennifer Richter with Gwinnett Police said the case is of critical importance.

"This is a very ongoing and very active case,” Richter said. “Our investigators have been working on this case, it's been a top priority since we located Susana’s remains last week, and our detectives have been working on leads as to the people who may have been in the area around the time that we believe that the body was left there. And they were able to connect some of that information to Miles Bryant.”

Richter explained that detectives have identified Bryant as being in the area where Morales’ remains were found at the estimated time in question.

“Right now, what we can safely connect him to is the concealing of the remains,” Richter said. “As to additional information as to what happened, we're hoping to have more on that in the coming days. And we haven't ruled anything out. So we are still very actively working on this case.”

Gwinnett County detectives continue to investigate the case and ask anyone who has information to contact GCPD at (770) 513-5300. To remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers Great Atlanta at (404) 577-8477 or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com.

AS OF FEB. 10:

According to a release, Gwinnett Police report there have been several nonfactual stories circulating in regard to the deaths of Susana Morales, 16, from Norcross and Rodrigo Mayen Floriano, 17, from Norcross. Police assert that while both cases involve the tragic death of teens from a similar area, they are unrelated. Rodrigo's death was ruled an overdose by the Gwinnett Medical Examiners Office, while Morales' death currently remains unknown.

Gwinnett Police said over the course of the investigation and search for Morales, they interviewed multiple people who had information, spoke with officials at her school and disseminated photos and a description to all law enforcement agencies in the southeastern United States.

As a result, the department responded to multiple legitimate and hoax sightings, none of which turned out to be Morales. Additionally, detectives debunked multiple false ransom hoaxes from individuals attempting to obtain money from the Morales family.
