Woman killed in Forsyth County house fire

A woman from Cumming was killed Wednesday morning in a mobile home fire in northwest Forsyth County.

According to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers, Brittany Best, 36, was found dead at about 6 a.m. in the home on Watson Road.

Crews were dispatched to the single-wide mobile home after receiving a call from a passerby. While initial crews were on their way to the incident, they received word that someone could be inside.

The home was heavily involved when crews arrived. The fire was quickly brought under control. However, crews found Best's body during a search of the home.

Best reportedly lived in the home alone.

The incident is under a joint investigation between the Forsyth County Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office and the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab to determine a cause of death.

Best's next of kin have been notified.
