By Austin Eller News Director

State authorities are seeking information after a home in Lavonia was destroyed in an arson.

The Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire said in a press release the home on Pinehurst Road was destroyed by fire on January 24.

“Under direction of the Franklin County Magistrate Judge’s Office, officers from the Franklin County Marshal’s Office boarded up the residential structure due to its dangerous state of disrepair,” Commissioner John F. King said. “Hours later, the structure was set ablaze in what has been determined to be an intentional fire."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804.

A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
