OAKWOOD, Ga. — On Wednesday, the Cherokee Bluff-Lakeview boys' game gets the nod for the most exciting, up-and-down game in the opening round of the 64th Lanierland Tournament at West Hall High School.

After trailing by 10 points late in the first half, the Bears rallied to the lead and held off a furious charge by the Lions to get the win and advance to the semifinals. They'll face North Hall, who knocked off Chestatee, 77-66, in the semifinals today at Lakeview. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
Flowery Branch held off West Hall, 45-42, in other boys' action to advance to the semifinals. They'll face top-seeded Gainesville, who blew out East Hall 73-38. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
On the girls' side, Lakeview Academy shocked Cherokee Bluff in the tournament's opening game, rolling past the Lady Bears, 63-52, to advance to the semifinals. They'll face top-seed Gainesville at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Lady Red Elephants rolled to a 66-21 win over Johnson.
North Hall held off East Hall, 65-51, to advance, while Chestatee easily handled Flowery Branch in a 62-36 win. The Lady War Eagles will play rival North Hall for a trip to the finals. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
