The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested a Gainesville man Thursday on drugs and weapons charges.

GBI officials said in a release that Fernando Martinez, 51, was arrested after a search warrant at a home on Pine Circle Drive in Gainesville.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Georgia State Patrol and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office arrested Martinez for his alleged involvement in trafficking suspected methamphetamine and illegal firearms.

GBI officials said the over one-year-long investigation led to the seizure of more than two pounds of suspected methamphetamine, seven firearms and over $3,000.

The street value of the seized drugs is nearly $12,000, officials said.

GBI officials said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Martinez was booked into the Hall County Jail.
