Law enforcement reminds residents to beware of trash "tipoffs" following Christmas

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Law enforcement agencies throughout Northeast Georgia continue to remind local residents to be mindful of their surroundings during the holidays, including around their own home following Christmas celebrations.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is reminding homeowners not to announce their newly received and opened "high-dollar" presents by leaving their packaging debris in clear view, outside by trash barrel bins.

Officials in Forsyth are reminding residents to properly recycle boxes from electronics and appliances while suggesting a staggering of time between trash removal pickup periods.

Criminals often look for signs of expensive gifts during the trash and recycling removal periods in the days immediately following Christmas.
