HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Zane Floyd hit a shot with 2 seconds left to lift Towns County to a thrilling 51-50 win over Tallulah Falls on Tuesday.
Tallulah Falls (3-11) led most of the most of the way in the first half, eventually taking a 26-24 lead at the half. Towns County (8-2) stormed out the break and built an 11-point lead at one point in the third quarter. But Tallulah Falls answered in the fourth, chipping away until taking the lead in the waning minutes.
Towns County senior Connor Chastain drained a 15-footer to give Towns a 49-47 lead with under a minute to go. Tallulah Falls answered back with a go ahead, 3-pointer with 8 seconds left for a 50-49 lead. But Towns County was able to go to length of the court and Zane Floyd hit the 12-foot runner for the win.
Chastain led Towns County with 13 points. Floyd pitched in 11 points.
Towns County next will play host to the Battle of the States tournament. The Indians will open against Hayesville (NC) on Thursday, Dec. 28th. Eight teams from three different states will be participating in the annual event.
