No injuries reported in Alto apartment fire

A four-unit, two-story apartment caught fire on the interior Thursday afternoon but was quickly extinguished by responders, resulting in no injuries.

Units with the Banks County Fire Department responded to calls of an interior apartment fire at approximately 4:43 p.m. Thursday, according to department officials.

Upon arrival, units found the apartment structure located at 5490 Yonah Homer Road showing smoke and efforts to extinguish the fire quickly got underway.

The blaze was reportedly contained to an apartment bedroom and a small attic area, leaving the structure with minor damages.

The American Red Cross was contacted by authorities to provide assistance to the residents who were displaced.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Banks County Fire Department.
