GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Forsyth has promoted defensive coordinator Dustin Canon to head football coach.
EaFo athletic director announced on Wednesday morning.
"It is rare that you can hire someone with the experience of coordinating all three phases of football and understands the community where we are at East," Hollis said. "Coach Canon has the unique perspective of watching the East community grow and change since playing youth football in Forsyth County. He truly believes that the potential for East Forsyth High School has just begun to show through and that we can be something special. I am excited to see our program continue in a successful direction under Coach Canon's direction."
Canon, a Georgia Southern University graduate, and Forsyth County native, has coached in Forsyth County for most of his career, having stops at Forsyth Central and East Forsyth. He began his career in Effingham County.
"He has been integral in establishing the football program and building the program into a playoff team," Hollis said. "He has been involved in all aspects of starting the program at East and is ready to take the lead as head coach. We are fortunate to have him here and be able to hand off the reigns of leadership to him."
Canon replaces Brian Allison, who will retire at the end of the school year.
"I am excited about the opportunity to build on the foundation laid at East," Canon said. "This is a great community with hard-working kids and families. We will work hard to build a first-class program that strives to make a difference in the families involved in the football program and the East Forsyth community. "
The Broncos finished the 2023 season 7-4 and made the playoffs for the first time.
