RABBITTOWN, Ga. — Tim Stoudenmire and the Oglethorpe County wrestling team came away with The Stoudenmire Brawl trophy on Tuesday at the East Hall gym.
The Patriots defeated East Hall 63-18 in the first match of the night, then went on to beat West Hall by the same 63-18 score in the second match to go 2-0 in the one-day, tri-match event. East Hall defeated West Hall in the final match, 40-36, to take second place.
The annual event pitted three coaching Stoudenmires -- Ken Stoudenmire, the head coach at East Hall, brother Tim Stoudenmire, the head coach at Oglethorpe County, and James Stoudenmire (the son of Ken) who now heads up the West Hall program -- against each other. It was also a way to honor the memory of Jim Stoudenmire, Sr., who passed away from complications due to a brain tumor on January 21, 2000.
All proceeds went to the Northeast Georgia Cancer Foundation, with the event earning $1,600 in one night.
