Wrestling: Stoudenmire Brawl set for Tuesday at East Hall

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

RABBITTOWN, Ga. — When siblings are involved, it can most definitely turn into a brawl -- in the friendly sort of way, of course.

This year, the 'Stoudenmire Brawl' will be at East Hall High on Tuesday, and is dedicated to the memory of former Coach Jim Stoudenmire, Sr. All proceeds from this event will be given to the Northeast Georgia Cancer Foundation.

The annual event will pit three coaching Stoudenmires -- Ken Stoudenmire, the head coach at East Hall, brother Tim Stoudenmire, the head coach at Oglethorpe County, and James Stoudenmire (the son of Ken) who now heads up the West Hall program -- against each other.

This event, originally called the Stoudenmire Bowl, started in 2014 as a way to honor the memory of Stoudenmire, Sr.

Stoudenmire, Sr. was the head football coach of Monroe Area High School (73-74), Jefferson High School (75-81) and Oglethorpe County High School (82-94). Coach Stoudenmire died from complications due to a brain tumor on January 21, 2000.

Jim Stoudenmire II, who retired from coaching, will be doing the announcing for the match, and Leigh Stoudenmire Griffiths, Jim Sr.'s daughter, will be singing the National Anthem.

The original event was held between East Hall, Clarke Central and Winder Barrow high schools and was held at Clarke Central High School. Those three schools were coached by the Stoudenmire brothers -- Jim, Ken and Tim.
