Boys basketball: Buford beats North Springs, 68-35; Dawson, Towns win; Bluff loses

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — On Monday, the Buford boys basketball team knocked North Springs, 68-35, on the road in the Sprayberry Thanksgiving Tournament. 

Chase Robinson led the Wolves with 12 points, Brennan Wansley scored 10, and Asa Williams added nine. 

Esmer Madesko led North Springs with 18 points. 


TOWNS COUNTY 51,
TALIAFERRO COUNTY 27

Towns County improved to 2-0 in Region 8-A Divison II with the win over Taliaferro County on Monday. 

Senior Zane Floyd led the Indians with 9 points. Senior Connor Chastain and Sophomore Dustin Barrett pitched in 8 a piece.

Towns County will travel to Highlands, NC on Wednesday night.


 

TL HANNA, SC 62,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 58

The Bears (2-1) couldn't recover from a four-point second-quarter loss to TL Hanna on Monday in the Jackson EMC tip-off tournament.

Bluff opened the game with a 21-9 lead but trailed 29-26 at the half. TL Hanna extended its lead to 46-39 after the third quarter.

Logan Holmes led the Bears with 16 points, and Cooper Glover added 12 points and seven boards. Tyler Underwood had 10 points, and Andy Quirarte chipped in seven.


UNION COUNTY 73,
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 64

The Panthers jumped on Habersham Central from the tip and never trailed in the win on Monday. 

Houston Henery scored a game-high 29 points to pace Union County. 

The Panthers led 23-12 after the first quarter and 45-33 at halftime. Union extended its lead to 62-49 at the end of the third period. 

B Gaines led the Raiders with 12 points, and J Gober had 11. 

Hayden Hughes scored 17 points, Jude Ellis had 11, and Vince Marevka chipped in 10 for the Panthers. 


DAWSON COUNTY 79,
HORIZON CHRISTIAN 51

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Tigers turned it on in the second and nevery looked back en route to the win over Horizon Christian at North Forsyth on Monday. 

Dawson County trailed 18-13 after the opening period but rallied to a 37-29 halftime lead. 

Trey Harvey drove the comeback, scoring 20 of his game-high 31 points in the first half. Ethan Parker added 12 points for the Tigers.
