Lanier High School bus driver arrested after inappropriate contact with multiple students

By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

The Gwinnett County School System announced last week a Lanier High School bus driver was arrested after being accused of inappropriate contact with several students.

GCPS Director of Community and Media Relations Bernard Watson said the school system was alerted to the accusations on Oct. 17 and the driver was removed from their route.

The bus driver resigned on Oct. 20 and is no longer employed by GCPS.

In a letter to parents, Lanier High School Principal Dr. Christopher Martin said “I want to reassure you our students are in good hands. A substitute bus driver has taken over your child’s bus route and will remain in place until a permanent replacement is found.”

Martin said because the situation is an open investigation and out of respect for the student's privacy he cannot release further details.

The school system did not release the name of the driver.
