By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Habersham County officials have identified the suspect behind an attempted registration of a stolen SUV earlier this week.

Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore said Zachary Taylor Bartholf, 27, of Clarkesville, has been charged with theft by receiving stolen property for allegedly taking an SUV from the Kimbrell's Store lot in Clarkesville and trying to register it

Habersham County Tax Commissioner's officials were flagged to the October 27 stolen vehicle report when Bartholf allegedly claimed he purchased the 2004 Ford Expedition from a Fairview area woman without proof of purchase or a vehicle title.

Bartholf was arrested by the Sheriff's Department deputies and later released from Habersham's Detention Center on $5,600 bond.
