No injuries after plane lands with landing gear up in Habersham County

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

No injuries were reported after a single-engine plane landed without its landing gear down Thursday evening at the Habersham County Airport.

Interim Habersham County Airport Manager Josh Hall, who serves full-time as operations manager for the facility, said the plane was a single-engine Bonanza airplane.

Hall notified Habersham E-911 Dispatch as he made his way to the airport, and Baldwin Fire Department responded just after 7:30 p.m. to check the situation to ensure there were no hazards.

Hall added the FAA would be notified of the incident since there was significant damage to the airplane, including the bent propeller and engine.

The name of the pilot and further aircraft details are being withheld, pending the FAA investigation results.
