The owner of Branch House Tavern in Flowery Branch and an employee of the restaurant were arrested earlier in October on battery charges following a September incident.
According to a Monday evening press release from the Flowery Branch Police Department, Majed Mohammad Alboumeh was arrested on October 11 on a simple battery charge. An employee of Branch House, Berhanesmeskel Sium, was also arrested that week on a battery charge.
The release said Branch House was hosting a micro-wrestling event on Sept. 24 when a customer allegedly directed a racial slur at one of the event's participants. The man was then escorted by staff, but a second man attempted to intervene. The two men were asked to leave and escorted out of the business.
"While the two subjects were outside of the business, another customer confronted them," the press release reads. "At that time, the business owner, Alboumeh, one of his employees, Sium, and several other employees exited the business and separated the subjects."
An "intoxicated party" then allegedly proceeded to verbally insult Alboumeh.
"Alboumeh was observed on video fighting his way past several employees who tried to restrain him before he punched one of the involved males and kicked the other," the press release said.
Alboumeh then used a patio table umbrella to again strike one of the men. Sium was also allegedly seen on video striking one of the men in the head.
The strike by Sium did result in a visible injury while the strikes from Alboumeh did not.
Those involved then separated and departed without calling authorities to the scene. The Flowery Branch Police Department was then made aware of the incident the next day, Sept. 25. The agency's Criminal Investigation Division conducted an investigation, which led to the issuing of arrest warrants for Alboumeh and Sium on Oct. 11.
