BUFORD, Ga. — No. 1-ranked Buford rolled through its opening two games on Monday in a Class 7A Sectional at the Buford Softball Complex.
The Lady Wolves (27-0) hammered Kennesaw Mountain behind senior Emma Grace Williams’ second no-hitter of the season, and her eighth complete game.
Buford advanced to the Sectional finals after routing Milton, 8-0, in the second game.
Jefferson beat Creekside 15-0 in the first game of a Class 5A sectional at Cartersville. The Lady Dragons will take on No. 1 seed Cartersville at 3 p.m. on Tuesday with a chance to move into the Sectional finals.
In Class 3A, White County, the No. 4 seed out of Region 7-3A, dropped its opening game 12-0 to Gordon Lee but rebounded with a 15-0 win over Carver-Atlanta to stay alive. The Lady Warriors will take on Stephens County at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Chickamauga with the winner moving on to play Gordon Lee in the Sectional finals.
Also in Class 3A, Dawson County lost its opening game, 9-3, to Bremen and will take on Douglass-Atlanta on Tuesday at Hebron Christian in Dacula in the consolation bracket. The winner will advance to play Bremen, who lost to host Hebron Christian.
In Class A Division 2, Towns County was beaten 12-0 by host Glascock County in its opening game. But the Lady Indians rebounded to beat Christian Heritage 5-2 to stay alive. They next will take Schley County, a 1-0 loser to Glascock County, in the consolation bracket on Tuesday.
