Family and friends gathered Thursday to posthumously honor businessman and philanthropist Jack Frost at Peach State Bank in Gainesville.

Frost was described as generous, selfless and a lover of life by those in attendance.

Peach State President Ron Quinn described Frost as a friend to everyone.

“He never met a stranger and he could talk to anyone,” Quinn said. “If he saw you and had never met you before he would come up and ask who you are and what you do. The next time he saw you he would remember you, he had a great memory.”

Janice Frost talked about the first time she met her husband.

“I didn't like him when I first met him,” Mrs. Frost said with a laugh. “I remember he had on shoes that were kind of built up because he was short. I said what are you doing with those old shoes on? I was giving him a hard time, but I finally fell in love with him.”

Mrs. Frost thanked Peach State Bank.

“Peach State Bank is wonderful they are like family. This is just a wonderful thing I would have loved for him to be here to enjoy this,” Mrs. Frost said.

Along with owning and operating Memorial Park Funeral Home Mr. Frost, served on the Community Board at Peach State Bank and was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
